Southern River is a growing & progressive club. Our aim is to provide hockey to all members of our community in a family friendly environment.

Exclusive to our Junior Members
Become a HighFlyer and be part of our Junior Development Program. The Program is tailored to increase the skill level of the Juniors at Southern River Hockey Club. The program focuses on individual skills, as opposed to the team skills, and most of the Southern River current junior coaches are currently teaching them. The program offers junior members a variety of coaches with different expertise.

Season
Training and Matches is part of our Season in Term 2 and Term 3
Training
Our training starts in March/April. All junior teams train at Southern River grounds, Thursday nights: Warmups/Self Fitness 4:30pm - 5pm Training from 5pm - 6pm with some additional turf training sessions scheduled prior to games on the turf.
Juniors turf training schedules will be advised in due course and be advertised on our Training page, as well as through coaches/team managers.

Matches
In this season, our juniors will play MATCHES on the following days:
- School Years 5/6 and 7/8 on Saturday mornings
- School Year 9/10 on Sunday mornings
- School Year 11/12 on Friday evenings

Uniform
Training: We encourange our members to wear the club training shirt and the club socks to training. Not compulsary.
Match Days: All players will need to wear a Southern River Hockey Club shirt, shorts/skort and socks on Match Days. This is not included in Fees.
You will also need a hockey stick, shin pads, a mouth guard and appropriate sport shoes. Order online Uniform Shop
Team Administration
Each team is to nominate a manager to help with off field organisation such as rosters, umpires, etc.
Umpire
Each team will need to provide an umpire at every game. The team manager is to organise this. If you do not have any qualified parents, you may wish to use a Junior with the appropriate qualification - junior umpires are paid by the team.
Carnivals
In addition to our regular winter season, players can participate in club based competitions during the April, and July school holidays. (These will incur additional fees):

All Western Australian children aged 5 to 18 with a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card can apply for Kidsport
Kidsport is to be used for SRHC membership fees and Players uniforms/essentials equipment available to buy from the club.
Events/Programs/Clinics and Summer Hockey is excluded.
