Hawks Cater For All Ages

The Southern River Hockey Club has completed its team nominations for 2009 and as a result of a tremendous recruitment drive following on from its highly successful registration day, the club has decided to increase its teams from last year. The Hawks have strengthen their playing roster by over 50% and as a result have submitted applications to HockeyWA to field at least a further three senior teams for season 2009. This includes a second ladies side to provide depth for the already successful team from the last two years, an extra grass side and an Over 50”s grade. With the steady stream of new players to the club this year it has been decided to field a side in both Over 40 and Over 50 competitions to allow for the younger brigade to fill the Astro Turf teams and the regular grass sides. With this in mind the club has a limited number of vacancies in these sides for the upcoming year. The vacancies are limited and will provide prospective new players with an opportunity to join our very successful and innovative club.
Junior nominations are also closing and teams will be announced as soon as HockeyWA have approved our applications. Again unprecedented growth this pre season will see us increase our junior representation to include an over 17’s team for the first time as well Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 with some age groups having multiple teams. The Hook in2 Hockey program has also attracted high interest and details will be announced shortly.

Senior training is progressing very well with new members joining each week. It is held every Thursday evening at 6-30pm and every Sunday morning at 9-00 at Les Sands Pavilion in Gay St Gosnells.
