The ‘Perfect Password’

A woman was helping her husband set up his computer, and at the appropriate point in the process, the computer advised him that he would now need to enter a password. Something he will use to log on.
The husband was in a rather amorous mood and figured he would try for the shock effect to bring this to his wife’s attention. So, when the computer asked him to enter his password, he made it plainly obvious to his wife what he was entering by stating each letter out loud as he typed:

P…E…N…I…S
His wife fell off her chair laughing when the computer replied:
**** PASSWORD REJECTED. NOT LONG ENOUGH***

TWOS V KWINANA
Metro 3 white match report 3/5/2008
By Barry Romaro

Metro three V’s Kwinana
The first thing I would like to mention was the sportsmanship shown by the Kwinana hockey club.
Kwinana provided two umpires for our game even though they only had to provide one!

This game had a big build up due to the close matches played last year between these two sides.
Southern River took to the field with only nine players but determined to hold out until the cavalry arrived.
We played for about ten minutes defending fully when Gavin took to the field followed by Alex five minutes later. Kwinana pressed very hard and we really did not get our act together until the second half.
Kwinana scored the first goal through a very controversial awarded penalty flick. Callum dived to his left and saved the flick only to be told that he had moved before the ball was struck and they were awarded the goal. 1 nil to Kwinana. Half time was spent well addressing what we were doing wrong and we went back on with confidence.
We moved the ball around very well in the second half and the hard work paved off both Brad George and Clinton Laurentsch reverse sticking the ball at the same time in for a goal…. you had to see it to believe it.
After the game it was decided that Brad would be awarded the goal, a sign we are becoming a “TEAM”.
After some more great work Quinton flicked in a goal high into the top corner 2-1 to us.
We then dominated the game until the dying minutes, with Kwinana pushing hard and us defending
With valor.
Unfortunately for us Kwinana made one last gasp effort to raid our goals and scored into the thirty seventh minute as the ball hit the back board time was called game over. Two all draw.

THREES V DALE

Mens 3 defeated Dale 2-1

The Mens 3′s met at Armadale on a rather warm afternoon. Well I am not exactly too sure as to what had happened but as a team we certainly didn’t start the game as we had finished our last. It was a bit lack lustre and rather a quiet affair that was until we received our wake up call at about the 25-minute mark when Dale scored the first goal (Nil-1). That’s when we shifted into the next gear and started to work together as a team and the opportunities started to come from our hard work. Nav in his defensive roll made the goal save of the century with a dive across the goals forcing a long corner. Nav was left looking like an ice-cream on a stick with his hockey stick wedged under his rib cage. Injury time was called and Nav walked off the field to recover only to be replaced by Gail Cracknall on the wing. With Nav’s inspirational save and 2 minutes left in the half, a goal came our way from a short corner when a second rebound off the goalie’s pads allowed Ian to slot the ball between the left post a defender and the keeper. Half time 1 all and the ledger was even.
After some words of encouragement, and oranges, the second half started where we had left off and the team kept on running hard and it wasn’t long before we were rewarded with Connor cracking a goal off a short corner Score 2-1. Dale kept on coming and the thirds kept on defending with some great work form JJ and Noel in goals. The final whistle was a relief and after a slow start followed up by some hard work victory was ours with a great come from behind win.
Thanks to JJ, Connor and Gail. The team is certainly looking forward to our first home game next week.

FOURS V SUBS

Subs 3:30pm @ Home
LOSS 0 – 1
A reasonably good game over-all with a few controversies being the goal against us and “Substitute Gate”, which held up the game for about five minutes. Subs were the better side on the day, but we really came together in the last 15 minutes, and were very unlucky at times. If we played like that for 70 minutes, we’ll be hard to beat. Need to put in a sustained full game effort to play to our potential. Ports in goals!! Who would have thought? I think he has finally found his spot.

DID ANYONE SEE THE 3 AMIGOS TRYING TO SET UP A HOCKEY FIELD LAST FRIDAY!! SOME ONE GIVE THEM A PAIR OF GLASSES !!
LADIES V SUBS

With twelve players today the women played a high standard game. Everyone did a fantastic job, it was good to have “Gilly” back in at centre half back with Miranda and Karen the two flankers both getting a lot of the workload.

Lou and Gail were rock steady in defence. Tash did one fantastic kick for the game. Well done to our newbies Jo and Tanese who both linked up with Hayley on a number of occasions on the left. Ang scored a great “all the way” goal by herself.
Paula did great work on the right wing but remains goalless.

Goals :
2 Alahna
1 Hayley
1 Ang
1 Karen

Thanks to the Umpire oh and Heathy for standing there like a pillock!!!

“WELL DONE GIRLS”

VETS V ROCKINGHAM

The game was played at “frenetic” pace and we settled down well with some fine attacking moves. Dave Frost was at his roving best with many gut busting runs from full back. We welcomed Len Davies into the side for the first time this year and he played solidly at the back from the first whistle. With many attacking thrusts on the Rockingham goal we found it difficult to score. We went 2-0 up with Trenty finding the net from short corners. Goals to Phil Hewton and Dave Vanderputt after half time sealed a good win and we retain top spot on the ladder.

FA Cup Night

May 2nd, 2008 by Jonathon Lanzon

FA Cup

At a meeting held in the offices of The Sportsman in London on 20th July 1871, a proposal by FA Honorary Secretary Charles Alcock “that it is desirable that a Challenge Cup should be established in connection with the Association, for which all clubs belonging to the Association should be invited to compete” met with favour and was finally approved three months later.

Now in 2008 the Southern River Hockey Club have already won a “Challenge Cup” within the two years it formed and they have their eyes set on a 2008 Challenge Cup. What better way to increase club morale and the thirst for another Challenge Cup than a club FA Cup Night.

It might be football/soccer but the end result is the same.

Date: Saturday the 17th of May
Time: 7:00pm
Venue: Les Sands Pavilion (Hawks Club House)
Cost: $10 (pre purchase through team captains preferred)

Details: Watch the FA Cup final on the big screen at 8:30pm. In the meantime pizza will be supplied with door entry and the bar will be open for drink purchases.

See your Team Captain for tickets or Jonathon Lanzon for more information.

The Threes” Hawks 2 V Subs 2

The team gathered at Suburbans in anticipation of another opportunity to settle into our positions and refine our game as a team. The game started at a ferocious pace and it wasn’t long before most of the play was being dominated in our forward half, followed by a quick dash back to assist the defence of Nav and Danny and then rebuild to attack. A lot of short comers were being awarded and after several attempts Aaron scored giving us a lead of 1 – nil. Late in the first half Suburbans counter scored with a goal which they built up from their defence and was then quickly followed by a second goal from a short corner. Half time 1 -2.
Half time we regrouped with a new vigour and our efforts paid off shortly afterwards with a goal slotted in by Andy from the left post, score 2 – 2. Again the Mens 3′s continued to pepper the Suburban’s goals with the run of play and short corners but scoring opportunities were denied. The game finished with the same ferocity with many of our boys digging in deep to see out the game in our attacking half. A hard fought game was played but we were content to walk away with the draw. Thanks to Adam, Dizzy and Brad for their assistance.

The Vets” Hawks 3 V Newman 2

The game was played at Newman College and we turned up with 10 and a half players( Janson on 1 leg !! ) Due to the “new” umpiring arrangements we had to start the game 1 short with Lloyd Jones umpiring. The weather was warm and the pace was “ furious” !! It didn’t take long to settle down to some fine structured hockey with Barry Vanderputt controlling the game from centre half. Dave Frost and Clive Reader were sound at the back and with John Trent and Phil Hewton combining well in attack it didn’t take long before the Hawks scored. The goal was a well drilled shot from Trenty that rattled the back boards. The Hawks were constantly in attack and before too long Trenty had 2. Newman responded and they swung into attack and in the blink of an eye it was 2-2. Half time Lloyd donned the gear and for the first time in 18 months our president was on the field. Well done Jonesy. A great shot from Phil Hewton wrapped up the match. Special mention to Paul Dixie who came straight from Ningaloo Reef to play for us. Thanks to Lloyd and Janson for umpiring.
Best: John Trent; Phil Hewton and John Gradison
Goals: John Trent (2) Phil Hewton.

HILLBILLY DAYVORCE
A hillbilly farmer who wanted to get a divorce paid a visit to a lawyer. The lawyer said, “How can I help you?”
The farmer said, “I want to get one of them dayvorces.”
The lawyer said, “Do you have any grounds?”
The farmer said, “Yes, I got 40 acres.”
The lawyer said, “No, No, you don’t understand, Do you have a suit?
The farmer said, “Yes, I got a suit, I wears it to church on Sundays.”
The lawyer said, “No, no, I mean, do you have a case?”
The farmer said, “No, I ain’t got a Case, but I got a John Deere.
The lawyer said, “No, I mean, do you have a grudge?”
The farmer said,”Yes, I got a grudge, that’s where I parks the John Deere.”
The lawyer said, “Does your wife beat you up or something?”
The farmer said, “No, we both get up at 4:30.”
By now the lawyer is getting frustrated but tries one last question.
The lawyer said, “Is your wife a nagger?”
The farmer said, “No, she’s a little white gal, but our last child was a nagger and that’s why I wants a dayvorce.”
